For a person like me it’s tough to be disciplined enough to just say NO! I mean I love me some birthday cake, and not just any birthday cake but a fluffy pink strawberry cake with buttercream icing.
I enjoy a good chocolate pastry with a piping hot cup of black coffee. I admit it’s my weakness and I’m a afraid to admit that I am a Sweet Addict.
THE BEGINNINGS OF AN ADDICTION
I work in your typical work settings where we pretty much find a reason to celebrate anything and everything. Birthdays are a given–you can expect cake and some kind of food item at least once a month.
I mean seriously, who brought those donuts? I am surrounded by sweets constantly and you know what.…..I freakin’ love it! I have a job I love and an added bonus is that we eat constantly. From menu tastings to breakfast buffets, oh man I am in the sweetest heaven!
FEEDING MY SWEET MONSTER
So what’s a girl to do? I have a coworker who always says, “From the Lips to the Hips” and in my mind, I already have hips so why stop now?
The first step in a recovery is to admit you have a problem. Well here it goes…my name is Tenisha and I am a Sweet Addict.
Now that I have that out-of-the-way, I’m still at this burning question of how I am going to overcome this issue.
I could totally pick one of the million diet plans and stick with it for like 90 days, see results and then go right back to the candy bars in my desk drawer. Or I can quite cold turkey and then after a couple of days, go back to scarfing down a couple of glaze donuts in the break room.
None of these things will help, however, I know a few things that could definitely help.
BEATING THE SWEETEST BEAST
I’m good at setting small attainable goals, creating a checklist and marking it done as I go. That’s basically where I am going to start. My goal this month is to find alternatives to my sweet addiction. It’s going to be something I can quickly put in place when I feel the urge to grab those Hershey Kisses.
I’ll start by replacing those candy bars in my desk with some power bars. Next, I am going to call in some support and plan the perfect girl’s day Brunch in appreciation of Valentine’s Day. We are going to create some great dishes that will satisfy any sweet craving.
Let’s work as a team and overcome this sweet addiction together. We’ll encourage each other to eat better and sprinkle a little determination to make wiser choices.
To get the creative juices flowing, I’ve complied all my ideas onto this mood board. Our Brunch of Roses is going to inspire a new beginning of eating healthier and preparing for company with affordable décor. We’ll get started with setting the table.
