STOP DELAYING YOUR DREAMS WITH THAT WHOLE “EXHAUSTED” THING

When it comes to life, it never stops. There is always something that’s going on; new job, old job, no job. More money, no money, enough money. Family troubles, family joys, family roles. There are a million in one things that can go on in our lives at one time. Life can wear you out, exhausting what little energy you do have left to work on that one thing that is your passion. So you don’t go for it. You wait for that one day that you won’t be exhausted. That one, non-existing day.

EXCUSES ARE TOOL OF THE INCOMPETENT

As I enjoyed my journey into the illustrious sisterhood of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., I was taught about those crazy things called excuses. You know the ones that build monuments of nothingness and bridges to nowhere.

That’s exactly what exhaustion is—an excuse to keep you from doing what you know you’re supposed to do in life. How many times do you have to hear that you can sleep when you’re dead before you realized that life is too short to waste?

Look at our home girl Serena Williams. I’m not sure if you heard, but she won her 7th…7th y’all…Australian Title this weekend. I’m sure after maybe the first or second title, she was a bit tired. Hell, when she was hurt, I know she wished she could take more than a few naps but she didn’t. Champs don’t waste time resting, they wake up early and go train. They go push past that moment of exhaustion to drive themselves closer to excellence.

Now think about the last time you said you were exhausted. What could you have done in the next moment? Could that next second have changed where your dream lives today? Did you miss an opportunity to take your next best step? Answer: probably. But you can change that the next go-around. Remember, if you don’t do it, who will? No one.

WHATCHA GONE DO?

So you’re getting home late. You’ve had a long day at work and even though you’ve planned to make some time to blog, or read, or write or work on a business plan, you have to get your household in order; cook, clean, wash your ass, get in the bed, etc. You’re exhausted right? So what.

Don’t let your mind trick you into thinking you can’t do all those things. Yeah you may need to stay up later or wake up earlier but ain’t your dreams, your passion, worth it. Time will not wait for you. *Ah hem* Let me repeat that one mo gan, time will NOT wait for you or on you. Don’t let mental “exhaustion” take you off your game and away from your dream. I invite you to do what I’m doing this year, scraping that word right out of my vocabulary. Let’s not be tired or exhausted. Let’s be great! #timewillnotwait #nobettertimethanthepresent
