Stop Stifling Your Potential

Have you ever sat in your cubicle looking around thinking what am I doing?

NO REALLY…WHAT AM I (OR WE) DOING?

Yes, I’ve done that and it’s not because I’m confused about the work I’m doing. No. I’m actually very comfortable in my full-time duties. The confusion began with waking up each day, and not being totally fulfilled by just doing what I’m good at. I knew God gifted me with other skills that I know I’m so much better at, but like many of us at this point in our careers, I had no clue why I wasn’t using them.

I started blogging back in 2011,  Adventures in Weddingland: Sane in the Insanity, when I was planning my wedding. It was then that I started honing some dormant skills in an area that I loved — writing. I was so scared to do it; fearful of what the world, ok maybe just those close to me, would think or say.

But damnit I did it anyway. I pushed through the fear and now look at me! I’ve started my own blogsphere, published my own book and now I’m working on Wattpad novel! But I feel like I’m just cracking open bottle. There is so much more to come. Do you hear that? Oh that’s potential knocking at my door.

Opportunity has been ringing your doorbell for weeks. When are you going to answer?

REALIZATION THAT THERE AREN’T LIMITATIONS

So the other day, I asked myself that question again, what am I doing? And you know how I answered this time…Not enough.

I was talking to a friend about all these thoughts and said something that made me realize my issue;

The only person that stops us from reaching our goals is ourself.

Yes I’m a mom of a 2, 14 and 17-year-old. Yes I’m a wife, sister, daughter, niece and friend. And yes I’m a marketing manager at a wonderful job but why have I used all those blessings as an excuse to forget about my passion?

THAT’S IT!

Folks, let’s stop making excuses and get on the good foot! This week, share the next steps on your pursuit to happiness and go. Don’t let self-doubt back you into a corner, but if you do or if it already has, remember you have faith on your side. Fight your way out. Your dream deserves a chance.

My mission continues as I get ready  to release my second and third books. I WILL invest more time into this reachable dream. I WILL use all the wonderful things in my life to remind me that even if I fail I still win at life. I always tell everyone to go for their goals. Fight through the obstacles and focus on the satisfaction you will achieve from accomplishing your goal. Now I’m talking to the women in the mirror!

Tell me about your dream and what you WILL do to take that next step.

See you at the finish line!

    Absolutely love this! I needed to read this one today. Ok, now I need to finish my memoir & stop procrastinating.

    Love this post! My goal is to better manage my time so that I can devote more time and energy into building my business. I can see the light at the end of the tunnel, and that’s huge progress from where I was this time last year. But instead of walking toward the light, I need to sprint!
