I Choose Meaning Over Happiness #quicktuesdaythought

This will be short and sweet H.E.R. Fam.

If you are waking up, going to work, able to stay financially stable, have love around or even good “like” around you, and you’re making it through life’s struggle but is still not happy, it’s because you are lacking meaning in your life.

Your meaning, or purpose, is something that wakes you up in the morning and reminds you that your presence is necessary. That meaning is unique to your journey and it’s your JOB to figure out exactly what it is so that WE can look, listen and grow from your light.

Some of us are lucky to understand our purpose early on in life. But if you’re like me, you are still trying to understand exactly what you’re supposed to be doing. At this point in my life, I believe I’m here to motivate, educate and communicate with others on what I’ve learned. That comes out in conversations with my friends and family, or through words in my writing. And I know that’s what I’m meant to do since I wake up and go to bed thinking about it. I look forward to seeing others not make my mistakes or learn and expand on information that I’ve shared.

Do you know your purpose? Nope. That’s OK but now is the time to figure that out. Life is too short to waste any more time not doing what God placed you on this earth do. You may already be doing it, in small doses, but you owe it to the world to give us what you got.

Here’s my last note: Happiness is only found on a foundation of meaning. Once you realize your place in this world, happiness will always follow. Please learn from my words—especially since that is a part of my purpose damnit! And listen to this TED Talks with writer Emily Esfahani Smith. She knows what she’s talking about too.
