Today’s Mid-WYFE’s Monday Motivation: Take a true break…Like back in the old days!
I’ll be honest, I’m jealous of my step-daughter. She gets a full week out for Thanksgiving. I know what you’re thinking; I need to grow up and stop being silly. I hear you but what I think I really need to do is take this holiday and truly enjoy my break like I use to in school. In school, when we went on break…we went on break! We didn’t worry about assignments, teachers or part-time jobs; we focused on our family and friends. I remember trying to see everyone I knew in one break and normally it worked out. But now that I’m older, there are so many things that keep me from enjoying a break.
If you’re like me, you’re always doing something; working, going to practices, cooking, cleaning, writing, wife-ing (yes I just made that up), etc. And sometimes it’s hard to find a moment to just pick up the phone and call or shoot a quick text to a cousin or friend you haven’t talked to in a moment. Want to know why…? Because as adults there is always something that needs to get done; bills need to get paid, clothes need to get wash, food needs to get bought and so on.
I’m encouraging us all to take this Thanksgiving holiday and make it a true break from our crazy lives. Enjoy gathering with your loved ones. Pick up the phone and dial your third cousin Mikey to see how he is doing. Go have lunch with your best friend from elementary. Let this holiday and others be an excuse to enjoy the people in your life. Don’t worry about what’s sitting on your desk back at work or who you forgot to email before you left. You only get one life so use it wisely.
Happy Thanksgiving to all my MWC fam (bloggers and readers). Have a safe and blessed holiday.
