It’s been a long week but Friday is here again. I want to leave you this week preparing for this upcoming election. I’ve heard some ridiculous things this week about incidents of intentional disrespect towards the President; from the CEO of Papa John’s vowing to fire employees who vote to re-elect the President to Trump losing him mind by trying to entice the President to bow to him by doing what he says. I have never seen so much public and national disrespect for any President. I’ve tried my best to say that it’s his policies or something just political but I have to admit that I understand now it is a racism issues. I have my reasons why but I think this is the cause for all the outrageous occurrences however, rather than me list them all I rather everyone stand back and take a good look at the bigger picture, and figure out what you see. Race will play a part in this election; whether it helps or hurts the President that remains to be the question.
I’m going to leave you with this passage that I saw a friend’s FB status and it got me thinking about this RACE issue that some deny. No matter how much “we” (I include every race in this we) say it doesn’t matter it is taken into account. But the great thing that I’ve found out is that some are looking pass race and looking at the issues, too bad everyone doesn’t. Whoever you decide to vote for, please just vote wisely. This election will tell who we really think we are as Americans.
A white man asked his black friend, “Are you voting for Barack Obama just because he’s black?”
The black man responded by saying, “Why not? In this country men are pulled over every day just cause they’re black; passed over for promotions just cause they’re black; considered to be criminals just cause they’re black; and there are going to be thousands of you who won’t be voting for him just because he’s black! However, you do not seem to have a problem with that! This country was built with the sweat and whip off the black slaves’ back, and now a descendent of those same slaves has a chance to lead the same country, where we weren’t even considered to be people, where we weren’t allowed to be educated, drink from the same water fountains, eat in the same restaurants, or even vote. So yes! I’m going to vote for him! But it’s not just because he’s black, but because he is hope, he is change, and he now allows me to understand when my grandson says that he wants to be President when he grows up, it is not a fairy tale but a short term goal. He now sees, understands and knows that he can achieve, withstand and do anything just because he’s black!“
Have a great and safe weekend!
