[Mid-WYFE’s Monday Motivation] The Mirror Never Lies – What Do You See?

How did 2012 end for you? Has 2013 started off better than last year or is it just the same old stuff?

Each year individuals come up with a New Year resolution: A new idea that will either totally shift their lives in a different direction or just a statement that is wishful thinking but never really fully realized and pushed. I stop doing resolutions years ago because I would rather have life goals rather than yearly notions. I’ve learned that so much can happened in a year that what sounded good on January 1st, may make no sense by June 30th and then by December 31st you’re thinking to yourself “I’ve failed”. Why do that to yourself? Give yourself milestones by making long and short-term life goals. Sure we all hope to hit those goals sooner than later, but sometimes later is the perfect time for it to happen.

Go into this New Year with some life goals. Don’t get stuck doing the same thing that you have been doing for years and years. Find a focus to get you closer the personal goals that you either had as a child or that you’ve created as an adult. If you want to go to Disney Land, go! Save up some money, find the right day and place to stay and go. Maybe you won’t make it by the end of 2013 but at least start moving towards your dream. So many of us think we are moving forward because we can sustain the current life we live but sustaining is just maintaining, trying to keep up not moving forward. You don’t grow or move or even realize that there is a world of dreams out there for you. No one’s life is perfect, and if you believe yours is congrats because you maybe the only person in the world, but I know that I have keep moving and growing as a person, wife, mother, friend, daughter, niece and so on.

Wake up and go stand in your mirror. Do you see the same person you were a year ago, a week ago or even a day ago? Or do you see the person you want to be in the future? The sky is the limit, and it’s time to take off.
